Sabal Palms After the Storm: Sabal Palms, Book 2 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.9 4.9 out of 5 stars 15 ratings

Elaine Smith and her friends just want to keep their small beachside town of Sabal Palms as it is. They have enough to worry about trying to navigate Bonnie's diagnosis as a borderline diabetic. But after Hurricane Jada wreaks havoc on the town, the small Southern paradise suddenly finds itself the object of a rich businessman's next big venture. And with the town in need of funds to rebuild, the community may have no choice but to accept the deal.

When Trent Fortune comes into town with a grand idea to make it a tourist attraction, Elaine and her friends discover that there is more going on with this business deal than meets the eye—one that involves the New Age religion. Determined to save their church and their town, Elaine and her friends pray for God to show them a way.

But when Trent's plane goes down in the ocean on a surveillance flight, Elaine finds herself mixed up in a business deal that could change everything for the community she loves. Along the way, Elaine will find again that God is always at work behind the scenes in mysterious ways and that big things can happen when we just trust in Him.

This book had me visiting old friends from the very first pages. I love these four ladies, Elaine, Mary, Bonnie, & Adrianna. They were in the first book also. Bonnie acts like I think I would act if I found out that I couldn’t eat sugar. Terry Overton brings her characters to life in her stories. The four ladies are always there for each other no matter what they are going through. When Sabal Palms is about to be changed by a rich handsome developer the ladies start to pull together once again to find out exactly what is going on and to stop it before it goes to far. This is such a powerful book absolutely amazing. You can feel the power of our Mighty God at work in this book. So inspirational such an absolute joy to read. Terry Overton outdid herself. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I can’t wait for book 3.

Sabal Palms After The Storm by Terry Overton is a phenomenal book. This is book two of the Sabal Palms series also a phenomenal book.)
I feel so connected to Sabal Palms and it's people. Such lovable characters and some a little harder to love. The characters seem so real, I feel like I could run into them on the street at any time.
I love how this story was put together, hard to guess what's coming next. Terry's books are so inspirational. I am patiently waiting for book 3. I highly recommend this book.

I love this story about a community of people fighting for what’s theirs and the lives they have always known. The people in Sabal Palms are like family and sometimes we love our family and other times we have it out but with God at the forefront of our lives everything always works out the way it was meant to be. This book made me remember that.

Loved the way this book exposed the New Age movement while upholding Christian values, principles, and faith. It also gave sight to how developers take over small towns. All this is wrapped in a Christian fiction novel with familiar characters from book #1. Definitely a recommended read!

In this second book of the Sabal Palms series we find that the town of Sabal Falls, Texas has made progress in recovering from a hurricane. But some residents have been shaken enough by the storm to think about moving away from the coast and are open to the offers being made by an out-of-town developer.

At the heart of the story are four close friends who are very supportive of each other. After one of them is diagnosed as diabetic, the others make sure that only healthy foods are served when they gather for snacks and meals. Personally, I would love to have any or all of these ladies as friends and neighbors.

When they find out the extent of what this developer wants to do, all four dig in their heels and take a stand against him. The new plans would turn their beautiful and quiet town into a tourist mecca. The small non-denominational Christian church at the beach would be among the sites converted to another use. They enlist the help of other residents, including a popular Christian musician who has learned to love Sabal Palms.

What are their chances of success? The changes could bring a lot of tourist dollars into Sabal Palms, but at what cost to those who call it home?

Terry Overton delivers us a book with wonderful characters who do not fit the stereotype many people have of older women. She draws her readers in so that they also champion the cause taken up by the four ladies.

Pick up a copy of this book and spend a few hours falling in love with Sabal Palms.

I am delighted to have received my copy of this book from the author in a contest drawing. No promise was made of a positive review, but I can enthusiastically endorse her book.

Terry Overton doesn't shy away from writing about real-life issues. SABAL PALMS AFTER THE STORM deals with problems such as diabetes, developers trying to take advantage of a town vulnerable after a hurricane, and a New Age religion threat.

Heartwarming characters demonstrate the strong bond of friendship as they take on the problems together, armed with their tenacity and their Christian faith. The result is an enjoyable read from start to finish.

This was definitely a David vs Goliath story. Small peaceful town recovering from a hurricane and in need of money going up against an investment group that has a proposal that looks good at first glance but is about greed. Throw in a bit of redemption by God for an added twist. All combined to make an interesting and enjoyable read.
