Securing the Sacred: Making Your House of Worship a Safer Place
Audible Audiobook
– Unabridged
Crimes against churches and ministers are rising at an alarming rate. Almost on a weekly basis, we hear about a shooting or act of violence in or on a church property. From burglary, to domestic violence to shootings, churches are getting a wake-up call that they are no longer the safe and sacred places they once were. As our culture becomes more secular, churches will be targeted even more. Jesus warned that in the last days treacherous times would come so that we would be prepared. This book will provide principles on how to protect your house of worship. Eric and Andrew reveal how by using the same principles that the United States Secret Service uses to protect the president and the White House, you can better protect your church, its leaders and people. This one of a kind security book, written through the unique perspective of a pastor and one of the security industry's leading experts, will show you not only how to better protect your church, but why and how to put together your church security team. If you read one book about church security this year, make it this one!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2018This is an excellent read for anyone considering starting a security program at their respective house of worship. Irrespective of your religious persuasion, the suggestions in this book will assist in getting your security functions in place for a well rounded program. The key to implementing a security program in a religious (or even cultural) environment is that the program has to blend in s that it operates covertly yet not appear to be outside of the normal operations of the entity. This book Offers suggestions on how to do just that.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2016Snatched some time between the tic and the toc to digest Eric Konohia and Andrew P. Surace work in "Securing the Sacred". Outstanding body of work. A very practical and applicable approach toward protecting houses of worship and their dignitaries. Any decision maker or body of decision makers in a house of worship should be able to immediately recognize the wealth of information offered in this book and get matter into motion. It also offers the protector the articulation one would need when conversing, consulting or convincing a house of worship to tighten up. Great job guys...
- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2017Good discussion of threats facing the local church. Important considerations for those still struggling with the idea of protecting church services from the wolves of our society. Discussed the importance of seeing the whole church experience from parking lot to sanctuary and how the whole team can be involved.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2016Great book!!! I have been reading A LOT recently due to my change in career path. This book is not only well written but very informative without being overbearing. As a Christian I hate to think of anyone coming into my house of worship with the intent to harm or maim people. You will find a proactive way using the people in your congregation to be extra eyes and ears. I highly recommend this book not just for people getting into Protective Services but also for all and any Pastor! Must read bottom line!
