Alive! Not Dead! Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

3.7 out of 5 stars 53 ratings

A plane crash high in the mountains outside Seattle, Washington marks the beginning of Dan Kingsley's journey through hell in Alive, Not Dead where undead rise, the world appears to flip, and the entire western third of the United States is destroyed.

Travelling further inland, avoiding the constant threat of zombies, rumors of tsunamis, and complete destruction, Dan meets several other survivors who have similar stories to tell.

All of them are unaware of just how bad it really is as the world falls apart around them.

As things go from bad to worse, Dan knows more than anything else that being alive, not dead, isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I am utterly amazed. I love this novel, nothing in this world I've read that has been as intense or horrifying as this was, is. I am hooked on the writing style. Waiting for more this author. R. M. Smith you are truly a great writer with a knack for the scare, keep them coming and I'll keep on reading.

Even though zombies are mentioned, this isn't what I would I would call a novel about zombies because it focuses more on the conflicts among the survivors of the apocalypse. In my opinion, RM Smith tries to do too much within the confines of one book and, in doing so, it's appears it was easier for him to kill off the majority of the main characters than to create something that would seem more realistic. I did enjoy the plot enough to read through until the end, but was disappointed that so many questions were left unresolved.

Hmmm this is probably the strangest, most unique zombie novel I have ever read and trust me, I have read many. For originality I give it five stars. It does keep your mind busy. You will just have to read it to understand what I'm talking about. But, be prepared, it is bazaar!

Bleak can be good, like in the Road. Or it can make no sense and just be the product of rambling on and sloppy writing tying up loose ends. This is the latter. Most all the usual online book typoes are cleaned out. That is the good part. The bad? An oh by the way ending that makes little sense and it pointless. Oh, and somehow a 1st LT is running the Army and he launched nukes? Nah. I am legitimately sorry I wasted my time reading this.

Mass destruction, zombies, love, lust, friendship, and twists and turns just to name a few. All this and so much more in this book. Captivating and well written, Mr. Smith truly delivers.

A very different take on zombies. Not even that prevalent in the book. Again, an apocalypse novel, but one more about man's desire to be in charge. I would recommend it for a quick read.

This starts off kind of slow and then turns into a real gore fest. There's a few bad guys but they seem to be glossed over, the book seems to concentrate its many pages on the travelling from place to place. It's unfortunate that we don't really get to know any of the characters properly, not even the main one, they don't tend to last long enough for that and, even when they do, there is nothing to endear us to them. The ending is a bit of a letdown too, it's very abrupt, with just a strange poem to tell us it's finished.
I felt let down by this book, the plot seemed good but it didn't deliver where it needed to. Not a zombie novel I would be happy to recommend.
